Because of the radically changed economic conditions, the idea of reaching Fishguard was in abeyance for the time being. The terrain north and west of Carmarthen was in need of a railway connection and the Carmarthen and Cardigan Railway was planned. The first promoters of the Carmarthen and Cardigan Railway planned to build a line from Carmarthen to Cardigan, and to build a new deep water port there, opening up shipping routes from west Wales. In this scheme was widened to include a line to Kidwelly and Cross Hands , connecting the mining and quarrying on Mynydd Mawr. Late in that year it became plain that these ambitions were beyond the expected financial resources of the company, and a more modest scheme, to build from Carmarthen to Newcastle Emlyn, was formulated. It was intended later to extend the line to Cardigan, and to make a deep-water port there. The line was to be to the broad gauge, consistent with the gauge of the South Wales Railway. The engineer was Joseph Cubitt.

One would conclude, that as a Welshman is almost proverbially distinguished for deeming himself illustriously descended, and relating his long pedigree, he would naturally boast of, and exhibit to the public, some account of these vestiges of his ancestors; but such is not the case, and to their shame be it spoken, these ruins are scarcely noticed with any degree of interest by the inhabitants of Carmarthen. Carmarthen is the county town and an historic one. The Romans knew the town as Moridunum.
The name Carmarthen is an anglicised form of the Welsh Caerfyrddin, Caer is Welsh for fort and fyrddin is the mutated Myrddin, Welsh for Merlin in Welsh the first letter of a word changes according to what precedes it.

Like Seventh-day Adventists, most people know little of the existence of other Sabbath-keepers. Well, there are about half a million other Sabbath-keepers besides Adventists, and they have doctrinal beliefs that are distinct in many ways from SDA’s. I can’t speak for all of these Sabbatarians, but I can explain how we are in some ways similar, in other ways different, and why I am not a Seventh-day Adventist. Christ kept the Sabbath and there is not a single text in the Bible showing that Christ authorized a change of the Sabbath from the seventh day of the week to the first.
No one can “work his way” into the Kingdom of God. Nevertheless, “faith without works is dead. Following the Declaration of Arbroath , Scotland maintained its independence, albeit in near-constant conflict with England. The British constitution would develop on the basis of constitutional monarchy and the parliamentary system.
